Marriage is a lot of things...
One thing it typically isn't is a fairy tale. So starting it with the celebration of a lifetime might just be a bad omen. Typically speaking, sex, at its base pleasure level, is more important to men. The disparity between genders is rarely addressed. Because we are furious in our practice of it while dating (the ultimate auditions?) and think that will never happen to us? Who knows? But if we are thinking about it every 20 seconds and all we ever wanted was sex and a sandwich (just a metaphor) you'd think we'd pay more attention to all the ways we could keep getting the most sex possible. I'm just saying...
Here's a shocker...IMO, my wife and I (20 years married) don't do it nearly enough. Maybe once a week. This is what has happened to two busy / working parents. The good news is that it is usually great quality.

This myth is one of the biggest disservices ever. Of all the ways in which society has changed and the perception of women (and thus men's relationships with them) have evolved, this insane idea continues to reek havoc between men and women.
Maybe I am the exception but, given the opportunity we would have sex everyday....and nobody would be happier than I
No, we are not newlyweds.......we have been married for 15 years.

He's 47 and I am 41....but he's been 1700miles away for over a year, so 0. When we do see each other, he is tired so we don't have much going on. I would say in the last year its been maybe 3 times(that's if I count the time it almost happened, but ended with me "helping" him) I hate it! I want off this island and back to 3-4 times a week! lol He doesn't seem to mind, I have tried to initiate phone sex, but he says if he can't have the real thing he doesn't want to even think about it.
BTW when the kids are in their teens it gets worse again! We can't make too much noise, because otherwise they bang on our door and tell us some people are trying to sleep! lol

I agree it is a disservice or at least leads to lack of service but with all due respect my amorous co-poster, based on my conversations with men everywhere I've been, this is no myth. Also, there is a mountain of data (endless interviews, scientific studies etc.) supporting this "myth" and the many reasons (mental, physiological) behind the differences in the genders. At very least, sex means different things to the typical man versus the typical woman. For one thing, the frequency changes in marriage versus non marriage. For another, women supposedly connect it love more so than men.
Of course these are "fact" based generalizations. You are likely an exception to the rule and bless you for it.

To each other or are you including having sex with someone other than their spouse?

Do some of us with live-in boyfriends count? If so, then I'll say that sometimes we go seven day without then we have sex everyday the following week.

I'm 37 and my husband is 40. We have a 20 month old and an almost 4 year old. We are in the middle of selling our house and moving out of state within 2 months from now. Our house is a 1970's ranch where our bedroom door is about 15" from our oldest son's room. By the time we get him to bed, I am beyond exhausted every day. (often 9 - 10 PM) He takes awhile to fall asleep.
Despite the above issues, the biggie for me is that my husband refuses to get a vasectomy. We discussed this before we were even married! We absolutely cannot afford another child and at our ages, it's not the best choice anyway. I'm just not in the mood to play russian roulette and hope the condom works everytime. (we got pregnant on the 1st try with both of our kids)
So these days, I guess maybe 1-2x per month is all he's getting.
