I have a couple of thoughts twirling around in my head in responding to this post. First, I have no problem believing in a "higher power." There IS a higher power, no matter how you try to spin it. Are you going to die? Yes. You have no control over that power. So... you are controlled by a higher power, without getting into the specifics, religion, all of that...
In the past, I often thought movies were overly dramatic, for the sake of entertainment, and not at all like real life in many cases. But when you think about it, how much more dramatic can it get than to be alive on this planet Earth? (See, I'm being dramatic again.) It's just really hitting home to me that this is a seriously precious span of time, and we should be recognizing it for what it is, and appreciating it.
Do we really believe that it's just a lark and we are born, we live, we die, and that's it? Seems AWFULLY intricate and complicated for it to be just an afterthought.
So, I'm becoming more of the thought, as Thursday pointed out, that whatever and whomever we come across in life has more of an impact than what we initially perceive. So, although I don't necessarily believe there is one person "fated" for me, I do believe the people we become involved with have some importance in our "journey" and that they are "put there" for a reason.

I agree. As an example, I recall a dream I had more than a decade ago. In the dream I woke up and there was light coming from the window. It wasn't sunlight, just a sort of white bright light that you might find in the twilight zone. I looked at the clock and it said it was 2 am. I went towards the door that led outdoors and opened it. Outside were 2 children playing, 2 boys of about 4 or 5 years. I told them that it was 2 in the morning and that they should be at home. They saw me and knew I meant business so they left towards the lot that runs towards another street. About a year later, my sister got pregnant with her first child. The years have passed and I recognize her kids as the kids that were playing outside the yard in my dream. I never told her or anyone about the dream. About a year ago, my sister moved into a house near my parent's house and her kids always use that lot near the house to go to their house. To me that is evidence that souls are linked and know each other even before birth. Of course, I also believe that if my sister had had an abortion, they wouldn't of been born. So human actions have the capacity of steering your life into unwanted and unforeseen territory. Which is why many drug addicts lose their way, instead of continuing a normal, productive life.
Recently I have had other manifestations. But they are not ready to be told.

I believe GOD has a plan for each of us, and our freedom to choose one road or the other veers us to or fro.
We all have a path to walk, Until now, I've never been in Love, I didn't know what was missing till it showed up. So yes, I believe there is that special person that we are linked to, I've read a saying lately that touched me:
We have two eyes, two hands, two feet, two ears, kidneys, lungs etc but only 1 heart becasue it was given to another for us to find.
Maybe just a saying, but does make you think. Either way, I'm just glad I've found my ONE. God bless the broken roads!!

That statement reminded me of a poem by Sam Levenson called, "Beauty Tips" and it was made famous by Audrey Hepburn.
Two of the lines state:
If you need a helping hand - you will find one at the end of your arm.
In time you will realize you have two hands - one for helping yourself -and one for helping others.

If you think so please explain. If you don't think so, explain anyways.
For people who are already in a succesful life time relationship explain when you first knew that your partner was the one for you.
Opinions and experiences.

Yes, I do believe that everyone has that "one" person that they were meant to be with. The problem is many people never meet them because they don't wait for it. This is why the divorce rate is so high and people are in unhappy marriages.

No. Not fated.
My wife is right for me because she gets me, we have a bazillion things in common, we share all the important opinions/views, and she is funny and smart and makes my chest fuzzy and warm.
Also...she has good boobs.
