Partying is also about meeting new people, going to new places, letting loose and dancing, and even hooking up with other people. It's not always about the drugs and alcohol.
Parties seem to vary depending on clique. Parties I see and hear used to be those drunk parties where people get wasted, including teens, and do drugs and sex each other until like 4 am. There is always some 30+ wastoid that wants to be cool with the young folk and after a while it gets kind of sad. Maybe said person's glory days was being the life of the party. I agree, partying is overrated but the real parties is where people don't lie around in their own vomit.
