Of all the many people I've met in my lifetime, I've rarely met anyone who didn't have a sense of humour WHATSOEVER, who was psychological normal at least, so I'm wondering what you would consider a person 'without a sense of humour' so to speak?
For me, someone who is so serious/insecure that they can't laugh at themselves doesn't have a true sense of humour. For instance, if someone makes a light-hearted, inoffensive joke about you, you can only see it as an insult. Indeed, sometimes I've laughed at 'insults' against me that I later found a bit offensive, but the humour sort of neutralised it.
I also find someone with a very one-dimensional type of humour lacking in a true sense of humour. Like they will only laugh when someone gets a pie in their face, or stupid sarcastic/ironic statements (such as saying 'it's a beautiful day' when it's cloudy, unless it works with something else I find statements like this tediously uncreative and unfunny). Someone with a well-developed and intelligent sense of humour appreciates most of the common forms of humour (I can laugh at pretty much all comedy), and doesn't just crack up at one-liners or something like that.
I find people without a sense of humour may go a whole day without smiling at all, whereas someone like myself, even in my darkest moments I laugh/smile easily (even when I'm frowning alot for other reasons). So much so I look really goofy/ridiculous.

Haha, I'll actually agree with you and say Seinfield is somewhat overrated, yet I did find it somewhat funny at times. Definitely more hilarious shows out there though, and Jerry's whiney high voice always annoyed me.

some people have a "dry" sense of humor and may appear not to "get" other people's jokes. in my experience though a lot of people with a dry sense of humor are actually very funny people.
some people consider them ( people with a dry sense of humor ) not to have a sense of humor but they are wrong.
also some people don't like potty humor so some people consider them humorless which isn't true either.
me? i like it all and nothing is out of bounds but just because other people aren't like me doesn't mean they don't have a sense of humor.

A person who is serious and can't laugh at themselves. That was me! They don't know the difference between disrespect and somebody who just doesn't know better. Probably because they don't know any better themselves.
The crazy thing was that I was not always so. It was when people started telling me that so-and-so was rude, you should have said something. Then I stopped having fun and started spending a few moments wondering if a person just offended me. Can you imagine how that person felt especially if they meant no harm?

But yes, someone who didn't find Seinfield funny at all would be pretty odd.
Humor's a subjective thing, though. Most people think they have a great sense of humor and want that in a partner, but if one person likes Two and a Half Men and fart jokes, and the other likes Arrested Development and wordplay, they're probably just going to stare at each other awkwardly.
A person without a sense of humor at all will likely not utter even a slight laugh at something thats amusing in anyway. For example walking through the concrete jungle of Brooklyn the other day, I laughed at a child playing with a cute pug dog..Not funny but lighthearted to where the laugh was pleasure in seeing such a cute moment in a world rife with negativity. it's proven a sense of humor allows us to live longer and have a buffer for life's stresses. my take on it anyway

Good post. I agree. I like it all, but my favorite is the dry, tongue-in-cheek, sarcastic (in funny way) type of humor, such as, when Niles Crane (Frasier) and Dan Fielding (Night Court) deliver great funny comebacks in a complete deadpan expression. Yet, I enjoy the zany humor on Seinfeld and Night Court, too. And enjoy the high-society, witty, snobby humor on Frasier. As far as potty humor, if it's funny, that's great, too.
