It depends on the circumstances. Then again, men and women are too different till they get to know each other more.

a guy sleeps around a lot, he's a stud; a girl sleeps around a lot, she's a ****, *****, etc.
A guy gets mad, he's just expressing anger; a girl gets mad, she's a b*tch
a guy turns down a girl who he doesn't like, he's a piggish, shallow jerk; a girl turns down a guy she's not interested in, she simply didn't feel the same or he wasn't right for her.
A guy calls a girl ugly, he's a shallow pig; a girl calls a guy ugly, she gets no flak
an older guy dates a younger girl, it's normal; an older girl dates a younger guy, she's a cougar or can't get a man her age.
A guy chooses to stay home to take care of the kids, he's a wuss; a girl stays home to take care of the kids, that's normal.

I could go on and on but you get my point.
I don't care for the 'double standards' but I don't think that will change in general.

The only hope is to find someone who has moved beyond this stage.

And thankfully there are such people.

Really--I never believed that and still don't.

I could talk freely with my brother--we were friends. I don't understand why there is so much emphasis on the differences.

Then, I was never the sharpest crayon in the box. Sometimes i just lol--'u r a boy and i am a girl'. How can we ever resolve the incredible differences?

That doesn't make double standards right though. If we are not satisfied with the status quo (apparently not), but do nothing to inherently change it, progress can never be made. What "is", currently, is not always "just". There are countless obvious historical examples where the mainstream, "normal" practices of the times, were later realized to unjust and inhumane. But that didn't stop them from being changed over time, and made, "more just" and "more humane".

Apart from family, men and women are different and segregated by nature. But they can cross the gender boundaries once they meet, get to know each other, and marry.

Certainly, I guess.

I still believe that if you have common interests then you can speak as human beings.

I thought this many years/decades ago and still believe it. First and foremost I am a human being and both sexes are equal. I don't consider myself a Feminist and I don't believe 'All Men Are Pigs'. I thought we were getting rid of that sort of thinking.

I should probably crawl back into my cave. What a good time we had a few decades ago--a look, a smile, a little joke and things seemed to work out pretty well. That is all I know to do. I still think you can 'know' a lot about a person from looking at their face. I can spot the 'sweet' ones without much problem.

Well, it's a deep subject.

I didn't say anything about things being unfair, or that they should change...did I? I think people just need to stop crying about the fact that there are differences between the genders. Get over it already.

I remember watching the Tyra Banks show, there was a woman on who had 2 lovers, had a baby with one of them, Tyra called it "female empowerment". If it was a guy with 2 women, she would be calling him a pig and telling the 2 women they deserved better. I'm a woman and I think that's kind of unfair.

It's true of course that there are differences between the genders. There are also differences between individuals that are not related to gender such as individual personalities. And in some cases, the former may trump the latter.

Omg!! What the heck!? You know what, Tyra? I call a woman who has two lovers a two-timing *****!! Just like the man! I think it's piggish to have both lovers regardless of gender!!
