Ladies, we get it, we understand you love your DEAR HUSBANDS more than anything else, but please don't make us hapless denizens read DH over and over, in thread after thread. DH this, DH that.... why, why, why so corny??

It's dumb and cheesy but who cares? I see lots of DH, DD (daughter), DS (son), but I have never seen a man post about his "DW".

I see DH used all the time on various message boards. It doesn't bother me. It must be rough to have so little to care about that two letters would **** one off so much.

Someone said they hate SO. I use that sometimes. I'm almost 30 years old. Itseems a little ridiculous to type boyfriend all the time.

Dude, I am so with you on this one. DH, DD, D?, it is annoying. Just say who it is. I mean really, who goes around saying "dear ......"? No one.

I never knew what it meant, and didn't care enough to look it up.

It irritates me too, because of the "Dear" part. But just to be a tiny bit fair to those who use it, it is true that DH can take the place of a name. When it functions this way, it is acutally replacing the words "my husband" and not just "husband" so maybe it does get tedious to type out "my husband" over and over.

Here's an example: My neighbors and I picked up DH from the soccer field and then went out for a drink. [DH would have to be replaced with "my husband" and not just "husband" in order to make it not sound weird.

So...why could they just not have abbreviated it as MH "my husband" instead of DH?

I didn't think this would be a heated subject. For anyone who is offended by any of my posts, any comment I made was made lightly, so I truly meant no offense.

A couple people have pointed out that those of us making these comments have nothing more serious to worry about. I actually do have quite a bit of serious stuff - really serious stuff - on my plate right now, and I don't want to go into it, publicly. But sometimes it is easier just to pick on the lighter things in life to take a break from the big things that get you down. And that's all I'm doing. It's all in fun, I promise.

Ah, but it could also mean "damn husband," too.
