OMG! I can totally relate to people calling you "too white". When I was younger, my white gf would say to me "you're a white girl trapped in a black girls' body". What am I supposed to say to that? I just brush it off. and I "sound" white on the phone, when I have a phone interview, I am positive that the person on the other end assumes I am white. then I show up for the job, and I can see a slight look of surprise when they see I am a black female. What can I do? I can't change my vocal cords to sound a certain way, and which way would that be? what does "black" and "white" sound like? I grew up in mostly white neighborhoods, (my father was in the army) and went to mostly white schools. I speak the way my parents and sisters did, perhaps if we grew up in the south, or in the "ghetto" or inner city, we would "sound" different?
I get compliments from some whites that I sound "educated" when I speak, but some blacks tell me that I "sound white".
Why the descrepancy?
I date white men, that's who I am attracted to, it has nothing to do with money or suitablity, it's just my physical preference. There are plenty of loser, unsuitable white guys out there that I am not attracted to either!

I'm a Black female and have dated interracially, and wouldn't mind doing it to this day (I just need to find people who are attracted to me first!). My family has issues with it but I don't care. Yes, I wouldn't mind dating within my race, but the only men of my race that find me attractive are the scrubs and inarticulate thugs. Instead of keeping myself limited to that lacking circle, I open myself up to other races.

I was never one that felt I had to "keep it in the race." If I were to do that, I'd be closing myself off to a lot of great guys.

Well I will not lie..here's the story of my ex

My ex (AA) did leave me (yes, left with no closure) for a Portugese woman and as a black woman, I did not take that lightly..I felt decieved and rejected on every level and because of that I don't date black men whose epitome of beauty is of a non black woman.
I am clearly a black woman from my skin, to my lips, down to my body (Nona Gaye/Gabrielle Union-ish)..if I'm not your type than don't even bother..
