I come from an intercultural relationship (African American/Caribbean Latino), and my mom's family is very mixed, even though they call themselves black. So we never had a problem with this at all.......

that's awesome! I am lucky that my family has no issue with who I decide to date, I wouldn't let them tell me who to date or who to love, unfortunately I know some people that their families tell them it's ok to date a certain race, but "don't ever bring one home", or have kids with them etc. I would hate to be in a family like that.

"My heart does not discriminate, darling" is my motto. The only thing I have a problem is, how does a BW like myself ever get over with the tainted history of slavery and the horrids of discrimination against people of my color (and ancestors) that had been going on since slavery ended when it comes of wanting to date a WM-- AND...knowing that your friends, family, and co-workers will be barking at you for having any interest in one?

I am also a BW, and I date white men. thoughts of slavery, past histories, etc don't even cross my mind when I am dating. If your family and friends have an issue, it's their problem, not yours. You should date who you want, you see someone attractive-any race-then go introduce yourself. There are going to be losers and scumbags, etc in all races. Don't let it stop you from meeting people.
I really think you should date who you want, color doesn't matter, it's a personal choice, some people prefer blondes, or some tall guys may only want to date tall women, etc. It doesn't really matter. at least it shouldn't anymore!

well, in order to move on, you have to let go of your thoughts about that. I realize things like racism still exists, and I admit I still have some issues with going to the South, but interestingly, I don't let it affect my dating life.
