Why do people do this?
Who knows why they do it. Perhaps he didn't find what you said funny. If the atmosphere took a turn like this, I would either ignore it, change topics or find some way to excuse myself. Misunderstandings are simply that, misunderstandings.

This is the one thing that I love about C-D. If it wasn't for C-D, I would not believe for one second that there are people out there who like to joke around.

You can say I'm being too PC, but on another outing if I jokingly say, "OMG, the President went to Ireland and he's part Irish(true), he could be a terrorist. *gasp*" This of course is IRA related. My friend would find this offensive and then reveal that she is part Irish.

She of course knows nothing about the IRA or Ireland and it's history.

So, why have a line for one and not the other?

That's more on the dangerous side. There's time and place for everything. I wouldn't joke with some TSA moron about a bomb, either.

Dinner scene from "Look Who's Coming" with Ashton Kutcher and Bernie Mac.

The dinner scene where Ashton Kutcher is forced to tell racist jokes to Bernie Mac.

She isn't TSA.

How is it dangerous to suggest that the leader of your country may have "terrorist" connections based on bloodline when the Tea Party has done so a hundred times over based on his other ancestry?

Do you believe in the anonymity of the Web or something...?

No, I don't.

I seriously don't think the Executive branch cares about a sarcastic joke I make on a random Friday night to try to talk about current events.

Also, the IRA has long made peace and only the provisional IRA has been active in the last 10 years. So, that makes the joke absurd to anyone who knows about the history of Ireland. You might want to look it up.

Meanwhile, the Tea Party can stand wherever they want to with signs saying he's a "terrorist", maybe an assault rifle in plain view, and loads of rhetoric and all he does is comply, not detain. And they do it on the basis of a religion he isn't even a part of.

Who do you think should be detained first?
