I had Leg Lengthening about a year and a half ago. I was 28, and was frustrated at my natural height of 5'6. It is no secret that women prefer taller men and that shorter people are generally not taken seriously. I hopped on a flight to Kurgan, Russia, had a consultation with doctors, and then spent $26,000 to have my legs cut, bones stretched apart, consolidate and then harden. I now stand at close to 5'9 (but say 5'8).
This difference in height of going from below average to average is like night and day. Women smile at me more when I am out and about, people, men and women approach me differently with first impression and while I am not tall, I generally feel as though I get more respect. I can walk, have no pains (anymore), and life is back to normal. I go back to Russia in two months to have the internal rods taken out, and my scars are virtually invisble. My proportions are great because pre surgery, my arms were slightly longer naturally (by about 2.5 cm).
While I do not recommend this surgery, I met many Americans (male and female) there who were there for the same procedure. While I had the company of international patients who spoke English, beautiful russian women, and of course my laptop and x-box, this whole experience is something I will never forget, and has done nothing but good for me.
While rejection is imminent, I rarely get rejected because of height off the bat anymore, women don't take attitudes when I approach them (like in a nightclub), my overall quality of life has improved.

Well, just do whatever makes you comfortable. I have been 6 ft. tall since I was about 15 years old, 20 now.
From my experience, 5'6" is about the average height for most women. I'm sure you didn't want to date someone who was the exact same height as you.
I've also read that wearing ankle weights could make you grow an inch or two, don't know if it's true though.
Nothing in the world can make you grow past puberty except for LL. In LL it is YOUR bone and TISSUE that is growing to fill in the gap, so it is all you. Lots of men in the western world who fall below 5'10 has tried some method of growing taller. Nope. At this time, nothing but LL works.
I had no problems dating someone my height, but when I was 5'6, it seemed like no one my height wanted to date me. All I heard was "I need someone taller than me while wearing heels". I also remember being teased at my old job. Not anymore.... Now I just blend in and I love it.
Honestly, this sounds like a Dumbo's Magic Feather or Ruby Slippers situation. You're still not very tall, comparatively, but you're more confident and that's what's attractive. You had the power all along. Good luck.
No. Has nothing to do with confidence sweetie. I'm the same person. My confidence has nothing to do with women smiling at me more and walking to to me to talk to me. I fumble the same way when approaching women also. Now, they let me talk. On the occasion that I am turned down, its now after I've said something, not from the off. The majority of women prefer taller men. Plain and simple. 5'9 isn't tall, but it isn't super short like I was, and I am taller than most women. All of the 5'2s -5'4s are now shorter than me, even when they have their heels on.
Yowch. That's some major body modification. I'm glad it worked for you and hope it brings you happiness.
I'm surprised that you said women were there too. Although I know some women wish to be taller, I've never heard of one wanting to do something so drastic.

I am 6'1" and never thought about it before. I know many people that are around 5'6" or even shorter...interesting, never seen or experienced it as anti-social etc. If it works for you its a good thing.
$26,000 for 3 inches of height? It seems so minimal for those kind of beans. IF I put out that kind of money and went through such a stenuous surgery, I'd want to be at least 6 feet.
But as long as you are happy.
