My father is 65 and has been desperately trying to get a girlfriend for a year or so. It usually only last a few dates, if that, then they dump him for his odd behavior or his baggage as some women have said.

Anyway, the new lady is early 60s with a live at home 30 yr old son. She sounds ok, but who knows. I don't meet these ladies as the dating situation always sounds a bit odd to me and never works out.

So my father told me he is taking the lady and son (that he met already) out to dinner. Is this odd? Sounds kind of weird to me. I could see maybe if the son was much younger and needed a babysitter, but a grown man? I've never heard of a grown man going on a third date with his mom.

Mama's boy? Or, an enabling codependent mom? Really have no clue.

I don't know, maybe it's not too odd. I know he's not really that old, but remember, usually you can't tell old people anything! I mean, by virture of having lived so long, they know it all!

Does he have the nipple-high pants yet? Well anyway, maybe his current strategy is to show interest and favor towards her son, and thus gaining favor with her? Ok, maybe it is a bit strange, after all.

Dating is scary at times. Maybe the son is looking out for his mom.

Too weird, I would be leery of someone who would bring her son on a "date"....if it's not a date then that may be one thing...

could be. i hate to say this, but my father is a bit of a creeper. he wasn't for most of his life, but now he has dementia symptoms and will say some pretty inappropriate things to women. it's only a matter of time.

i can't understand why a grown man would hang out with his mother and a man her age. i could see if it were an old family friend or something. i don't have anything to do with my fathers friends. i have met them and have had short converstions, but i don't tag along with them. the only thing close to this that i have done is go out to dinner with my father and his neighbors one time, but i was visiting from out of town and staying with him.

I think the question to ask is why is a 30 year old still living at home?
