One of my closest friends is transgender - went from a female to a male. It wasn't a complete change - it's harder to go from female to male. He is so much happier now. He's basically bisexual but prefers women. He used to be a lesbian but said he could only picture being with a man if he was a man.

I don't know that there is anything you can do to help your wife - it's something she's going to have to come to terms with on her own time. I know of spouses who had to deal with their spouse coming out of the closet - but not wanting a sex change. It's just going to take time - a lot of time.

I wish you the best of luck and I hope you find happiness!

Why change? Because I've always been female inside in so many respects. I either choose to kill myself by staying as I am, or I become the person I should have been born as. Gender and sexuality are two different things. Gay men are still men. Lesbian women are still women. I'm wired differently. I just got the point where I was either going to kill myself or try to save myself. I chose life.
Good choice!

I can't imagine what it must be like with the gender dysphoria and all, seeing your own male genitals as something horrific and alien ....
