The last fight I got into was about 10 years ago. I was coming out of a bar and was standing on the sidewalk talking to some guys and I saw this dude a couple doors down grabbing and slapping at his girlfriend. I went over to intervene. He started-in on me, threw a punch, we scuffled, and I ended up putting him through a storefront window of a pizza shop.
This was in a small, hicktown. The sherriff rolls up. All witnesses confirm he started it. But, OH! Guess what? The sherriff--actually the deputy--is the guy's uncle.
The DrummerBoy does 19 days in the Johnson County (WY) jail for assault (later dropped); resisting arrest (later dropped); and drunk-in-public. (Not dropped, but b.s.--all I had was about four beers!)
Ironically, this otherwise unsavory incident is now included in some of my Claim To Fame experiences, since I actually was incarcerated in the same jailhouse that Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid once occupied. How sweet is that?
This story also got me laid several times, since very few women can resist the combo of a Bad Boy and a rescuing knight. LOL.
Peace.
A guy tried to sucker punch me in a bar, didnt make great contact. I looked at him and said if thats the best you got for a sucker punch, I'd leave if I were you. He left.
When I was in the Marines overseas we fought with everyone, but most of all we fought the Navy. When the Navy wasn't around we fought each other, tanks vs. infantry, etc. When the base camp was locked down because of fighting, 1st platoon fought 2nd platoon, etc. Yes, alcohol was usually an element in the proceedings.
Since I matured, I've had but one fight in 50 years. It was over a dog. There was a lot of blood - all mine - but the fight ended in a draw, as the police were coming from all directions. I'd like to think that he never beat that dog again, but the realist in me knows that most of us never change who we are.
