No, that information is correct. What is not correct is saying that people with HIV (not AIDS) die from opportunistic infections as a direct result of being infected with HIV.

I know everyone with a gay or bi male friend will slam me for this comment, but here goes. Men mainly spread HIV to women and other men. Check the numbers at the CDC. Women are eight times more likely to contract HIV from heterosexual contact than males. Not to say men can't contract it from women. It's just rare. And there's no HIV/AIDS epidemic in the lesbian community. As a straight male, I wouldn't take the risk. No one's future is promised. But I wouldn't willingly choose a life of highly potential hardship. Not trying to vilify the OP. But HIV is serious. It was in the 80's and still is. Don't blame men for being turned off by it. That doesn't make them bad people or shallow.

Don't listen to the naysayers. Do what's right for you.

I find it odd, being HIV positive, that a guy would sleep with you but not consider you marriage material. That seems generally counter-intuitive.

I can see where intimacy would be off the table. It would be for me should the roles be reversed. But if someone is willing to risk infection with sex...... than committment shouldn't be a problem.

If a guy wants to have children than HIV positive would definitely be an issue.

I think the guy who that to you is a jerk. In general, if I were HIV positive and I would look for mates with the same diagnosis. It seems it would make things easier in general.

date someone also with HIV. That's the only solution I see. But don't have kids.
