Yeah I'm an affectionate person and love to give and recieve hugs.
But I'm more interested in how it makes you feel to recieve a hug, for the first time at age 37? ANd how its affected your behavior/thoughts or perceptions on the subject.
It brings a range of emotions, hard to explain, peace, a feeling of being loved, even a kind of shock, and then annoyance at yourself, for believing that you could never be loved or wanted in such a way.
You actually believe that you are worthless, if no-one shows compassion towards you.
My thoughts; it’s so easy to ruin someone’s life, all you have to do, is sit back and do nothing.

That’s just the start of it.
I’ve had a wasted life.
Okay, but finish that sentence...
I've had a wasted life UP UNTIL NOW.
It is NOT too late to change things Bec. Even if you think you'll die tomorrow you still have the rest of today - get out there and live your life to the fullest!

Sending you a BIG hug in my heart
You’re absolutely right, my life is not over, and it has changed, at least for the last few years. In fact, I’m quite happy now, I have a Wife, and a Daughter, and yes, I do give them hugs, and receive hugs back, it’s all good.
I set out the OP to set the scene for the thread, but it is true, even though some won’t believe it possible.
Thank you for the hug, I’m sending one back to you.
Hugs can be very nice when wanted. I personally didn't care for my childhood and being forced to hug people I didn't know and/or who don't honestly give a rat's about me now. Parents should let their kids establish their own boundaries in some way but that's just me I guess. I'm not the overly-affectionate type but I suppose that could change, I don't know.
Well, now you know better so I hope you do lots of hugging on your wife and daughter - make up for lost time so to speak
I do, and I shall, I won’t let history repeat itself.
