I know, so I just stopped looking for it. If I can ever get to chitown I'm going to eat some deep dish pizza. I think that's going to go on my bucket list.
Definitely- it's a must. I know a guy that came here from China, though. He asked where to get authentic food that we're notorious for. I gave him a list of half a dozen places/ foods. Each one he came back & complained that it was a waste of his money & time. I asked why- and he said he doesn't like American food- he only likes Asian cuisine

He's a savage. Doesn't even know what good food is!
I know- I couldn't believe it, LOL Why go to a famous city & just do the same old stuff?? If there's one thing I do appreciate, it's good food
You know there's 2 ways to know for sure if I like the food.
1. I'm eating it so fast that it appears like I'm just shoving it down my throat.
2. I'm taking my time, giving the googly eyes to the food(since I can't give them to women right now) and I'm talking to the food.
I do #1 all the time, but #2, I'll do it with a good steak, great tasting pizza, or something that's heavy.
You know I don't like it so much, but still eating it when I'm eating and trying to talk during, with times were I say "This stuff is OK..."
You know when I absolutely dislike something when I'm taking an entire bottle of ketchup/Franks Red Hot and splattering it all over the food and trying to get by with it saying "Its just adding color!!"
He hasn't made it all the way yet. Not even a probie. I've been a firefighter for 15 years and an EMT for 12. And yes I cook.
Hey now, I'm working on it if all goes well, I'll be a "probie" at the VFD next month sometime... maybe early December at the latest But I gotta start somewhere.
