It's always hurt the profession when the "massage parlors" claim to offer "therapeutic massage"; I used to be even more vocal about defending legitimate than I was strippers. Usually their only "experience" in those joints is rubbing the wallet out of your hip pocket. Ask them what a trapezius is and they'll tell you it's the thing they swing on in the circus.
Thing is, you can really do a LOT of damage to someone by just giving them a "rub down".

I've also encountered techniques that are not in the books but people love....lol And I don't even want to think of all the people that aren't qualified out there practicing

Man, it's cool to be a young amphibian in the middle of the corn fields... So many things can happen to him for the first time! The say you get old when fewer and fewer things happen to you for the first time and more and more for the last time...

I was really young then LOL.
Like I just got up and my shoulder was purple from the foot ball game Friday night. When she saw that, she went crazy and rubbed my shoulder and shoved like 10 packs of ice on it.
Must've been an old son of a gun

Could be several things -
- the sudden release of toxins
- the therapist is going too deep
- your immune system was fighting a bug and you didn't feel the symptoms yet
- the number one reason I've encountered - the patient doesn't drink enough water after the massage to flush out the toxins

No I really don't!
I've given them before, so I know the kind of relaxation one can give, though I'm no licenced masseuse by any means.

Weird... Well, I'm talking about home massages. I enjoy it while it lasts and like it deeper (massage, Frog, massage!), but that's happened quite a few times. Never thought of having to drink water... You know, that might've happened after drinking alcohol, though...

It IS scary, isn't it?
Every once in a while they'll have "clean-up day" and shut a bunch of them down. Thing is, it's like busting dope dealers - there's always more to take their place and/or they just move their business down the street.
When I worked at the club I must have seen at least a hundred guys giving "massages" to the dancers - I always warned the girls before they accepted. A few listened.
... the rest usually wished they had.

That'll be $75, please.
