So say you've been with someone a few years; seriously deep into the relationship, committed, etc. Then one day you find out something so shocking about your partner that it feels like a truck hit you. Something so out of their "character" that you almost can't believe it. Do you stay,or do you end it?

It depends completely on the something.

LOL if I wasn't studying right now maybe; I just know someone who's living a complete lie. And it's gonna catch up to the fairy tale story they're living....Its inevitable

I don't know. That's why we all should do our best to keep our skeletons where they belong - in the closet.

Not me

I drug my skeletons out of the closet and propped them up around the house and yard for decoration

I don't really have anything in my past that would qualify. Now my ex-husband...... that's a whole nother story. He had a legion of skeletons and I didn't know the seriousness until he was in prison for attempted murder.

If I had known the truth about his past...... I would have have never gotten involved with him.

Wow! I was talking more of Halloween-style skeletons... This is more like a true horror movie!

And when ya' found out, you were still married? Thats the way it usually goes, as far I what I've witnessed. The unsuspecting spouse gets slammed with something that is impossible to ignore

Hmmmm.... I think the answer depends heavily on the specific nature of the skeleton. If the skeleton involves a mistake made 20 years ago and there was no enduring harm to anyone then leave it be. If the skeleton involves a long and ongoing history of making poor decisions that effect other people then perhaps it is time for a serious conversation. If the skeleton was killing my former spouse so that I would be available.......

I'd say the nature of the skeletons would be important too. What they were, their severity, etc. Otherwise, very difficult to tell. Also, how the person handled hiding and revealing the skeletons too.

Lots of missing details to really answer the question.
