I don't really think the conversation is a direct result of him being drunk. You're just culturally and temperamentally incompatible. I certainly have plenty of experience with that.

Yeah, I have German friend who's husbands liver gave out a few yrs ago.
She never considered him an alcoholic.

And nobody can also say for sure why his liver gave out. I'm pretty sure other livers do, too. Just like my Grandpa got some sort of lip cancer supposedly common among smokers. Only that he'd never had a smoke in his life.
