I think it would be very helpful if you actually gave him some examples rather than just generally suggesting he "ask questions". If you could provide a list he could then print it out and use examples without having to go through the agony of coming up with something himself.

That may be YOUR reason...but my reason for being there was always to find people that were possible relationship material.
