^ Do you want to get back with him? If so, then your meeting may not be the platonic chit chat that you've planned it to be. But, there must've been a reason why you broke up in the first place. Remember why it didn't work out in the first place. Writing them down may help.
If you don't want to get back with him, then stick to that decision. If you think a meeting now may bring up unresolved feelings, perhaps it is too soon. Your cooling off period may take a year. Or more. Or until you enter into another relationship and decide that you no longer have romantic feelings for the ex. That's when you can become platonic friends.
And sometimes, despite the best intentions to remain friends, you just can't end up that way. Wish each other well, and move on.
Well turns out he's been seeing someone and now its serious and he told me this the day before I flew to meet him. Prior everything had been about him not seeing or sleeping with anyone and that he was looking forward to meeting me and wanted to stay with me during my stay.
So not only did I not get a reception upon arrival but he seemed to do a complete 180 in that one day before arrival. And when we finally met up he brought the new guy to I don't know rub it in? Total rudeness.
And I'm like wait weren't you just leading me on like two days ago. Now you act like you barely know me and that you haven't been lying all this time. The new beau revealed that they've been seeing each other ever since september. wtf?
Any who lesson learned. I shouldn't have played into his hand. I had a feeling it was a trick... well not really but once a liar and manipulator... always that way.
