You didn't specify that the girl was fake. I've gotten messages from girls on POF who didn't reply to me after I responded. It was annoying but it happens.

I wouldn't join a pay site (or even a non-pay site) if I wasn't in it for the long haul. Chances are that initial message wouldn't have turned into anything.

At that point I would just join a club or start doing more activities that lead to meeting women. Spending that much money would put too much pressure on myself to find the right girl.

It would be cool if people wanting to get to know someone wore a symbol, for instance a special kind of ring on a certain finger, in analogy to the wedding ring which is to show everyone that the person is not available

That's like a party my friend went to. Each person wore a certain color to denote being in a relationship, wanting to mingle or wanting to hook up (or whatever they called it). Avoids the possibility of some guy getting tough because another guy is talking to his girlfriend.

I remember my same friend being in a singles softball league in Chicago, but I don't know if smaller cities have activities like that. I live in a decent-sized area and it doesn't seem like there are many "single activities" other than going to the bar or some random activity going on some weekend.

ya I doubt he'd want to go out as "just friends". I just have no idea what to say without seeming rude when I decline. Its almost easier to be the one rejected sometimes.

Speed dating As odd as it might feel (I suppose it does, I have never participated in it, though, much to shy for that ) to take part in something like that, at least you know more or less instantly whether or not there is attraction.

Hm, tell him or her that you have met someone else If necessary ask a real friend to play the part so they have their proof

Well, if you can't handle hurting his feelings, you may have to improvise

Even these women think they're entitled to George Clooney look-a-likes...Only though if they have net worth of 5 million and own vacation homes in the Bahamas.
