Hold on, Hawk. Am I crazy or is this 90% identical to some grocery store meeting you posted about a couple of months ago? Turned out to be an older woman, etc.? ETA: Oh, sorry, it's not, this is a HS friend. Well, you outright told her it was a date. So it must be a date.

Woman's perspective here: I agree. Not that compliments are bad; they're wonderful. But meeting up with someone by chance from years ago, immediately asking for a date, specifying that it is in fact a date and then moving in with the "pretty lady" stuff...sounds like you're all set to move into her apartment or something. Pull way back on that stuff...but be very friendly and have a nice, casual date.
