Yup...my van was 9yrs old, his truck was 15 but we travel a lot with the kids and their sports so he wanted me to have something a bit more reliable.

I keep waiting for his phone call where he says "come pick me up...I broke down on the highway"...lol

His truck has actually been pretty reliable though, for the most part. He keeps up on the maintenance and when it needs repair he does it right away.

I have a company car and Mrs. Chow works from home. This affords us to have older cars and not worry about car payments.

Our Mustang is a 97 and it only has 53k on it.

We do keep our AAA card up to date.........

Maintenance is key to keeping a vehicle alive. There does come a point where things break and the cost to keep it on the road and safe seems to cost more than it is worth.

Default movies

If you belong to AAA, you can buy movie tickets cheaper there.

I wish he could get a company car...they just don't do that in his company and he doesn't really need one.

WOW...that is low mileage! His truck is a '97.

He always reminds me "if you are more than an hour away, call the ins. company"...I guess we have roadside assistance. Thought I was going to need it when I ran over a bumper on the highway!

I use the "car payment" method; as long as it doesn't cost me more per month/year than a car payment(s) then I'm still ahead.

Yeah, first its the water pump, then the alternator, then the tranny starts slipping....

I'm not a big big fan of cars that are real old with lots of miles..... like you said, there becomes a point..... not to mention also, the reliability factor, I don't wanna be in the fast lane on the hwy and something major happens....

It was bad when I hit the deer. Called for law to come write the crash report. Then called my old man, he came with his pickup and a chain to pull the bumper out of the wheel. Then while waiting called the insurance company to start the claim work. What a pain the backside.
