We are the same. We don't need anything and we don't like the pressure. We generally splurge on each other throughout the year when we see something the other might like. Sometimes in the past we have referred to big purchases like a new car or furniture as a "gift". During the holiday season, we enjoy spending time with our families most of all.
I usually don't decorate for the holidays either but for some mysterious reason I feel like it this year. That means, I will hang a wreath and do stocking stuffers.
Edited to add: we do spoil our parents, our grown children, our siblings and our nieces and nephews. They get nothing but the best treatment. If they have a need, we aim to meet it. If they have a specific want, we strive to give it. We don't have a budget for it.
