One of my best friends is single, straight and he has a cat. I should tell him how rare he is.

Apart from the fact I don't believe you (show me stats - no wait don't bother, one can support any point of view with 'stats'), even if they are rare, it means nothing and doesn't make cat ownership any more 'gay' than owning another other pet. What's so feminine about cats anyway? I really don't get it.

Give it up already. You're plenty wrong; how many more people will it take telling you that they know quite a few single men who own cats before you get it?

As a matter of fact, I wouldn't have cats right now if it hadn't been for my husband; he'd had cats all his life, because his dad liked cats (not his mom; she loathed cats).

By any chance, are you an African American living in the inner city like our OP?

Just thinking, if you are that maybe you two just haven't seen enough of how the rest of America lives?

Because honestly, your opinions are really off base for America at large

What age group are we talking? I find a lot of young, mobile 20 somethings don't have pets in general. But if they did a survey, I'm pretty sure your '1 in 100' claim would be flatly refuted and you'd be eating humble pie.

Why should a guy be classified as 'not straight' just because he has a cat? Thats just wrong.
