My husband rushes home from work everyday to be with me, my son, and our dog. That's the only person whose opinion matters to me and I already know how he feels. If you don't want to get married - then don't. But don't assume that every man on the planet feels the same way that you do. Not all women feel the same way I do. Luckily, I don't care.
Guys who have never been married, or at least not happily married, spouting off opinions on marriage like they know what they are talking about remind me of the junior high science fair winner who now thinks he knows as much as a NASA rocket scientist, lol.
People like you and I don't care or worry about the mindless opinions they espouse because we live with a whole other class of men and know the truth
Men do not benefit from marriage. We receive the same things if we are In a relationship without signing over our life.
I'm not inclined to get up at 5:30 a.m. to pack a lunchbox for some guy who won't put a ring on it, sorry. If you have a girlfriend who can do that, that's nice for you. My husband is grateful for what I do for him. Likewise, I am grateful for what he does for me.

Sadly, some will just never understand the beauty and value in a successful marriage/partnership and how both parties benefit tremendously.
The reality is, not everyone is up to the challenge
That just shows you're only interested in the legal benefits of marriage. Anyway, typical of women.
Yup. That's exactly what she meant. And that is how we all are. I wouldn't do a single thing for my husband until we got that piece of paper saying we were married. That is how all relationships with women work. We are just horrible people and everything is our fault and the world would be a better place with out us. Good thing you have us all figured out!

You bet that shows a lot about women, even though that's nothing we didn't already knew.
I don't know how the law works in the States, is it by a state by state basis? But hypothetically, couldn't you get a civil union and have similar legal benefits but not as much financial mess to go through if you do end up breaking it off, like a divorce?
