I am an African American woman married to an Asian man (Filipino). We have three beautiful kids together. Love doesn't have color. If you are in love with someone the race doesn't matter. My husband approached me, and he was very determined to go out on a date with me, and after that first date we've been in love ever since.

My (white) brother is dating a girl who is half Chinese, half Jamaican, and she's beautiful. (Not sure if it is black mom, asian dad though).
The weird thing is when I was in middle school I had a crush on a different girl from a different family (black mom, asian father) with the exact same racial combination.
So, they're out there, but I think it might be the rarest combination!

Actually there a chinese jamaicans & chinese black jamaicans. Just like there are white jamaicans. There is no pure race anymore in the world hardly. 6% of the ppl from italy have black blood or moors what every word you want to use for black. All of our first presidents cheating with black woman on the side, all had mix babies. Alot of blacks have native american blood, because of freed slaves who joined tribes. The spanish, africans, & english fought in the carribean with pirates of all races. There were more africans than spanish in mexico at one point in the united states. I doubt you can find many ppl with pure blood still living. The first ppl who migrated to europe were brown or darkskinned

A very interesting discussion..
My college roommate (Japanese mom-French dad) says... he doesn't care what skin color the girl has... they are all the black when the lights are off in the bedroom.

I was referring to the Black/Chinese mix,not to Chinese who have relocated to Jamaica. But yes your post is very correct.

Responding to the Thread
Okay, I'm 45 and I knew that using the word "Oriental" in reference to Asians is offensive.
I think you should respect people and their wishes. Once, a colleague told me that her feelings were hurt when, in referring to "Whites", the "w" usually isn't capitalized. Whereas, when people refer to Blacks or African-Americans, or Asians or Latinos, the first letter is usually capitalized. So, from then on, I always capitalize the "w" when referring to "Whites" and by that, I mean people who are primarily of European ancestry.
What's wrong with honoring peoples' cultures??
Look, we live in a culturally pluralistic society. Let's face it, we're not always going to know how to refer to one another or what may or may not be offensive. All we can do is be open and respectful and when someone gives us a teachable moment, actually learn from it.

If it's such a bad word, why do your family members accept it? Are you saying they are stupid and don't know any better just because they are being called what they are used to being called.
Like I said in my other post, I think it also depends on your age and where you live. I think most Irish and most others see the humor in being called a slang name. But again, that's slang and some people take offense to that but I never thought the word oriental was slang or offensive until you came along and said it. Sorry I offended you, if I did, but as you go through life, there are worse things to be called.
I'm not being racist and that's a name I'm sick of hearing all the time. I can educate people that I don't like being called a ***** but that's not going to stop some who have thought that for a long time and don't see the purpose of changing.
Again, I'm sorry if your feelings are hurt or you're offended but you seem to be the only one I know of that is. You allow your family to get by with being called Orientals and that's alright with you but you feel the need to educate CD?
