Wow. Interesting. I guess that would be a "no". Strange.

And please, do not transfer the behavior of this one person, to the entire population of women.

She is seeing someone, he found her phone, the text was from him.

I've seen this before.

So you've had only pleasant conversations with her in person, and then she responded like this? Either there's more to the story or she's a nut.

Assuming the OP has given us all the information he has, this seems to be the only explanation that makes any sense!

Well, had you called her as normal grown-up people do when inviting somebody somewhere, you wouldn't have to wonder what the stupid text means or who sent it, would you?! For the record, I doubt she sent it.

I read the story and thought she herself had been rejected that day, and took it out on him by being vicious. I've certainly seen that happen before.

I should think when you next see her at the park you frequent that her attitude having said that (or not) should give you some clue as to whether the message came from her. My guess would be it was likely her 6'5" 275 lb ex husband that used to be a nose tackle and just got out of prison on a technicality after the brutal torture and subsequent slaying of a man who texted his (then) wife.

Good point, how ridiculous that he texted her in the first place.

I actually work with a couple of people that have this type of personality. One guy that I thought was normal until you talk with him about women; then he goes wacko. Guy number two walks around with a scowl and you never know how he's going to react. When guy number one starts dating a new woman I feel like warning her. They both acted normal for the first 6 months on the job.

I have a feeling there's more than one person here that exhibits similar traits.

She responds in bold letters that she finds me repulsive and no way in hell would she ever hang out with me! [Um, OK, that would be a no...]

Now, I'm a good-looking, fit, albeit aging guy, who she's seen interacting pleasantly with people of all stripes (and their dogs). So why she would choose to respond in an ugly, hostile manner does not compute (she's probably just about 5 years younger). I take it as her having big issues (self-esteem or past-abuse from men, or drug or psychological problems, or who knows?).

Anyone else have any horror story "dating" encounters?
I'm sorry but this whole approach comes off as very awkward.

I probably wouldn't have used to term "repulsive" but you know...

What in the world is awkward? Has everybody lost any sense of what constitutes a normal interaction in real life?!
