This is true - My BIL is overweight and you can be in the next town over and can hear him. He has sleep apnea as well.
Have him go get checked out for goodness sake. So you can get a good nites rest.

I think he'll have to see a doctor. I'm getting sore from sleeping on the sofa and the lack of sleep is crippling.

I agree with the other posters have him checked for sleep apnea ASAP. My father has this and he has to wear a breathing mask to bed at night. The mask helps to keep his throat open by forcing air through his nose while he sleeps no more snoring from him! When I was young you could almost hear him outside. He could be heard in every room in the house.

The sleep apnea is likely a result of being overweight, too. Sleep apnea and snoring and even waking with really bad headaches all can result from being overweight.

Oh boy, heres a reminder that most definitely applys to me. I pretty much am sure that I have sleep apnea. People have woke me up and told me that I wasn't breathing, and was snoring like a freight train. My fiancee has "put up" with this junk and been pretty decent about it. But, it makes me feel terrible about myself, and I have heard that it can be quite dangerous in fact. A nurse once told me that sleeping medications and even drinking alcohol by itself, could cause a lot of this. Well, its been several years since I have drank even one beer, and no medication of any type, and whats more, I am not even one pound overweight(not to brag, but its true), and I still have a terrible snoring problem. Guess its time for a sleep analysis to see what can be done. Good luck to you both.

Anyone who has sleep apnea needs to see a doctor ASAP. If left untreated, it can damage and/or weaken your heart.
I had sleep apnea, and had surgery for it 12 years ago. They took my tonsils, adenoids and uvula, as well as any fatty tissue I had in the area. It worked like a charm for me - I sleep like a baby.
I had to have a sleep study done prior to the surgery. During the study they had me wear a C-PAP machine (which is what ms_info is referring to), but it was horrible for me. Some people are perfectly happy with it, but I'm so glad I had the surgery.
