Actually I think there may be some revenge sneaking in with this rebound. He doesn't just want a rebound, he wants the wife to hear about it.

We went over for a cookout last night, and he tells the son to "empty the trash, because he didn`t want his Mom to know that he has been drinking, in case she comes home." LOL
