they now do.
date the young boys, go to strip clubs, get drunk in public, cheating
heavy flirtation with subordinates at the office.
its not the gender its the money and power.
there was a hope by men and women that a moral giant (the new liberated woman) was going to step out of the 80's and make it a new reformed world. it did not happen.
there is a creeping distrust between the sexes. it is widening not shrinking.
it was just a dream that some of us had, partnership.
everybody now gets on the plane with a parachute on their back and stands near the exit door with one hand firmly focused on their career.
gone is the "we"
kids pay the heaviest price for all this.

Sleazbagville? I get the impression some folks get jealous of older/younger relationships and thus tend to gasp in horror or call them names. Who cares...as long as the parties involved are happy with each other.

It's not jealousy, Rance. Truly. I definitely wouldn't be jealous of any very young girl with an older man. Trust me...when I was 20, I'm sure I could have found some 50-year-old who undoubtedly would have thought he'd won the jackpot. Actually, I had quite a few "come-ons" from much older men; I'll bet many other women here can relate the same experience. But...oh man, no way. Remember that this is *just me*. But we're all offering up opinions here and that's mine.

Seems nowadays you do see quite a few older woman/younger man combos. I'm 42 but I've met some smokin hot ladies in their 50s that I would not mind going out with.:-)

So how come this mistrust is only "creeping" now that it's women and men indulging in this behavior, rather than just men?

You're saying that in the past, men did all this despicable behavior and at that time, the partnership "dream" existed but now that women do it too, oh FORGET it, we women have killed that whole dream? It was only a "we" when the men drank and messed around?

No, Stephen. It's not that it was a more moral world then. It's that women had no choice but to stay with lying, strip-club-attending, affair-having men. (That's your idea of a once-perfect world? Thousands of women pre-mid-1970s would strongly disagree with you.)

ETA: Also, good show, putting the responsibility on *women* to be "moral giants" that reformed an entire world--of, by your own description, lying, cheating, strip club-attending men.

And then blaming the women for failing at that.

You're pretty bitter at women for not fixing the male population's entire spectrum of moral iniquities. It's really, REALLY strange that you're not blaming the men themselves for their own behavior. But it's very telling, too. It speaks volumes when someone says that the world was a better place when men could do literally whatever they wanted to, but come home to a woman who could be fully trusted to never do a single one of those things.

For the record, I obviously do not think it's okay for any people--of either sex--to do what this poster is describing. I just think it's a little odd that he describes how marriage and the family unit is crumbling because women now do the same things men do.

Also, I notice that when it comes to the subject of an older man dating a younger woman, this situation is compared to lying, cheating and boozing. If you'd like to discuss inequities here--how about the fact that nobody ties in an older man and younger woman with lying, cheating, boozing and the general downfall of society?

If we are talking about a 50 to 20 ratio I would find it gross either way, I cant see a 20 year old woman with a 50 year okd man or a 20 year old man with a 50 year old woman unless it was because of money. Even with that much of a age differance you cant blame it on one or the other because they both choose to be in that relationship for whatever reason. If I were to see a 50 year old with a 20 year old man or woman I wouldn't consider it a trophy, it would just be gross to me. JMO
