Fears of inadequacy shown through self-projective defenses?
Imperfection is perfection to me in my eyes. If I'm secure with myself, I don't expect or judge others to be lower or better due to extraneous factors that could either change. I love someone for what they represent, not what society says I "should" like bull****.
Why is it that the most imperfect people expect perfection in those around them?
It is a control issue. They are not in control of their own life and think it easier to control others around them.
Also by being critical they think no one notices their defects.
Maybe they think it's infectious and realising their imperfection want a little reflected glory ? Nobody is perfect. Not even the smartest, most beautiful, most successful individual on the planet could claim to be perfect. There is no such thing, it is a mirage, an illusion.
Anyone aiming for perfection either in themselves or others is sorely deluded, bound for great disappointment and a rude awakening. I think people seeking perfection in others are simply trying to boost their self esteem and ego in the vain hope of finding something which might make them feel more worthy .... We are all in the gutter but some of us are looking at the Stars to paraphrase Oscar.
Maybe those people are refusing to see their own imperfections and simply reaching for the sky, optimists with delusions of adequacy ? I don't know.
I suppose it is better to aim high than low though !
I am so happy this thread was created. I often wondered this myself because of somewhat recent events, but had no idea how to phrase it. You all have given some wonderful answers. I also am happy that the trolling has not occurred on this thread. Yay for adult conversations! Lol.
