I wouldn't call it mail order prom dates, but rent a prom date. It is not a bad idea really. I am sure there are many kids that really want to go to the prom but have no one to ask, or are too shy or geeky etc.
I sort of like your idea and I get it. It's low risk, if such a thing existed.
If you really want to make progress, talk to a girl or two in your class or even someone from another school and ask them if they'll be your platonic prom date. Tell her no strings attached, but you will buy dinner and a corsage.
If you sell it right, you'll probably find someone you can actually have fun with.
Epic Fail.....you're either gonna get losers oalready graduated girls who need money.....every girl want her prom to be special.....not feel like a prostitute.
Actually, I read a story about a boy who somehow got a pornstar (a pretty young, hot one at that) to agree to take him to his prom. The school wouldn't allow it cos they were probably jealous.
...a geeky, nerdy teenage boy get a prom date and be popular.
Going to the prom doesn't make anyone popular. And if the geeky nerd ever lets slip he was so desperate to PAY for a prom date, his popularity quotient will dip below -100,000.
It sounds like a bad idea. Why? Because everyone at the prom would very likely know that you had to rent-a-date, and you would be even more stigmatized as hopeless when it comes to dating. It implies desperation. On the other hand, escort services and prostitutes don't lack for business, and as long as everyone is at least 18, I suppose it could be done legally.
