Yeah super simple to do these days. Hardest part is organizing your cables properly. I can't stand a messy case
I have a case I bought years ago, but I keep putting off buying/installing components. It is not top ventilated and there were not that many around when I bought it. To provide a clue of how long ago this was, CompUSA is where I purchased the case from.

I bought a rebuilt pc/desktop off of ebay some four or so years ago, I so want to update, the the thing serves me so well for the money, all I've done since first purchasing it is added more memory for about $30. I originally paid about $160 including flat screen monitor, keyboard and mouse. Haven't had it serviced since day one other than self fixing any problems by looking solutions up via help sites on the net.

I know the thing is obsolete, but it hasn't failed me yet, but I really need a laptop at this point.

PS, someone had stolen my $1700 I actually replaced that one with a earlier used $120. and, than a $60 pc some years ago, till purchasing the one I own now which has worked better than any of the others.

Have you looked into tablets at all? In the last 12 - 18 months tablets have basically killed the laptop market. Most business travelers find that tablets do everything you need them to do, and you sync to the cloud so when your actually at your desk and on your PC all your files are there.

Oh I used to love CompUSA. These days we have a place out here called Frys, but I mostly buy stuff online at newegg.com.

We have a few independents with the largest of those being Intrex. I dig Newegg.com too.

I've thought abut a tablet, have done some research into them, but the more I do the more confused I've gotten, couldn't decide, so gave up thinking about them, plus there's added cost that I don't need to add on to run it. I haven't much use for pc usage once I leave home, I can just use my cell if I need to get connected. When out and about, I mostly fake text to avoid people. That's right, I'm one of those people. I used to hate the idea of having to be bothered with being connected all the time, till I realized how helpful a tool that little gadget came in handy as an avoidance aid.

It's in the 30's here, but that's barely jacket weather. More like hoodie weather. I don't usually get cold until the wind is blowing 30mph and it's in the single digits.
