She's kind of a geek gal, and I suspect she'd probably be more interested in spending time with me instead of whatever activity were doing (or at least I'm self-centered enough to believe that).

Yeah, I figured a picnic in the back of her SUV, watch the sunset, enjoy the air-traffic, do the talking thing. Just a romantic (hopefully) night out.

I was thinking this spot might be nice. It's outside Flint-Bishop International (FNT), on the grassy-knoll between the expressway and the airport. Think it is too far away to enjoy the landings or no? It also conveniently faces west towards the sun, so we could enjoy the sunset too.

Otherwise this small airport is fairly close, and we could probably (illegally) sneak onto the grounds after hours, but that's kind of risky, and while trespassing is fun--I can't really afford a criminal record right now.

I know Ann Arbor has a nice airport available too, and you can get pretty close to the runway off State Street there, but it's hardly private.

I'll ask these questions in the other thread someone suggested, the airplane one, see what ideas they have. But, love to see y'all appreciative of a little creativity.

About 20 years ago, a girlfriend and I used to go out to the end of the field at RDU and park right up by the fence. Lots of other people used to do the same. You could always see a bunch of cars out there. Things are different now and you can't get near it. They do have a park there with a deck and a good view of the runway, but it is not private.
