It's actually not. It was never tradition to give a diamond ring until the deBeers company ran an aggressive marketing campaign meant to con women into thinking that they weren't loved unless it was diamonds all the way.

All you did was combine the engagement ring into the wedding ring. And you still overpaid for something that impresses no one.

You fell for it.
Obviously you hate diamond engagement rings, and that’s fine if you don’t want to wear one.

Yours is not the only opinion on the matter though, though you seem to think it is.

I’ve enjoyed my ring for 16 years, and still receive compliments on it sometimes from “impressed” friends and strangers. Mine isn’t huge, it’s just very pretty and I’ve always enjoyed wearing it.

My cousin gave his wife a ring with a pearl and she also loves wearing it and nobody assumes he doesn’t love her as much.

Relax.

Why would you assume that impressing others is the goal? That must be the way that YOU think, so you assume that is the way everyone thinks.

My engagement ring is GORGEOUS and I enjoy wearing it.. Whether or not others are impressed is irrelevant..
