If he's 28 a good chance you'll have a shot with him; if you wanted one which it really sounds like you don't. I'm kind of on both sides, all though i'm more leaning on the side that you should give him a good chance. If he did start talking to you and did make the first engagement, chances are he was thinking of more then just being your friend.... Not always but most of the time. If you have not done much together outside of the work place then i suggest doing something seeing where it leads. Then after that if he doesn't want to do anything you know it's not meant to be.

Move across the country. I did this in 2010 as a way of getting over a crush, moved 2400 miles from home. I am now back home and said crush has moved to another city so I am ok now
