Sorry, maybe I wasn't too clear in my response. I was responding to your assumption about her not paying the bills and the fact that it was "his money" that paid them. Unless she also told this clerk she didn't earn any money and he paid the bills, that was purely speculation. For all you knew she could be the bread winner and she could pay the bills. I thought it was clear based on my example with my own situation. My bad.
You're good...The reason I said that she was "apparently" the one who doesnt pay the bills is because in that particular scenario she said she didnt pay the credit card bill...She may pay the all bills including the credit card bill, or she may not, but according to her, she doesnt pay that one. I didnt intend for my statement regarding their personal life to be interpreted as having factual knowledge of their spousal arrangement, which is why I said she 'apparently' didnt pay the bills, and that in divorce she would 'likely' receive alimony. Either of those could be true, or false in the hypothetical.

Gotcha!
Anyway, we are WAY far off from the original question...LOL.
Sorry folks!
When I was younger, nobody ever asked me if I was on birth control. The assumption was that he would wear a condom.
This might sound overly precautious but even when married and on birth control (which was taken to help lengthen and lighten my cycles) we STILL used condoms. I wasn't taking any risks having kids before I was ready to add to the family.

Personally, I commend you. And see thats what mature responsible people who are serious about preventing pregnancy do, in my opinion. I dont think its overly precautious at all. All this pulling out, and wondering if she's on birth control and hand wringing after the act is for the birds in my opinion. People who dont want to become pregnant or impregnate anyone take the measures necessary to shift the odds in their favor that it wont happen.

Exactly!
Maybe I'm a bit paranoid about sex, but the last thing I need is an STD or a kid to take care of for the rest of my life, likely with no help whatsoever.
