Long story short-I met an old friend on Facebook last week, we went to First Grade together and I had not seen/heard from her in 28 years. We have spent hours on Facebook chatting about our childhood, people who went to school with and I am starting to think that there may be more than just a friendship here. Today, we chatted for over 3 hours and we never seem to run out of things to say.

I hate online dating, I usually don't go out looking for a relationship but this was something that happened very unexpectedly. This girl comes from a very good family, we have a lot of friends and lots of history in common, so it is not like meeting a stranger online, since I actually know her. Has anybody here had a similar experience that turned into a relationship? Any positive experiences?

Recognize this for what it is. Don't be the guy who is out back taking out the trash at the moment that opportunity comes knocking!

It's just FB...not a dating site. Don't treat it as anything other than a re-acquaintance.
That said, every relationship has to start somewhere...so of course it could turn into something...just like if you ran into her in the grocery store. No difference.

Why haven't you made arrangements to meet?

How is reconnecting on facebook any different from reconnecting after bumping into each other at the mall or grocery store? Online dating generally involves a dating web site.

Yeah, that's not online dating. Just ask her to meet up and see if there's a connection. Do NOT spend days or weeks chatting on FB before meeting up.

Take it slow, make no assumptions after just one week of paying catch up. That is a big assumption...she may just be excited to be catching up.

I'd give it a shot and go for it. It sounds like you have a good chemistry.

Best of luck to you.

I reconnected with someone from high school on FB and we dated for a few months, so it can happen. Do you guys still live in the same place? Ask her to get together if you do!
