By physical acts and behavior I mean along the lines associated with the premise in the OP (sex). I knew he was a virgin. Well, he shared with me that he was a virgin up until the point he felt it was no longer my business. When I say we knew before he did, I mean that it's not something on the radar of a 5 year old. He was different and this manifested in a host of ways through out his childhood. He always preferred girls, typical girl play, typical girl movies when he was growing up. The kind of stuff that caused us to state "I think he's gay". My other brother is the one who first noted it and he was spot on.

A 14 year old is not a "child" in the sense that they have no sexual desires. I knew someone in high school who had a kid when she was 14. Most 14 year old boys masturbate regularly.

As is generally accepted by psychologists and legal systems, adolescents are neither children or adults.
