I have one, a great aunt and uncle who adored each other - both have been deceased for years now but I did witness it.

They ruined me for life lol.

What in hell is happening where I live? Folks largely don't marry in the first place.

Most split up sooner or later.

May I point out that you have been happily married for x years only (I had 5) and you may well be singing a different tune 20 years and two husbands from now.

Grey divorce is escalating at a massive rate which pretty much puts the "happy marriage" carp to bed.

Our lifestyle these days is largely to blame, not necessarily our morality or failings.

Where I live, 5 years happy marriage and 2 beautiful children is considered a "success".

Statistically, most people don't divorce. With your perspective, why are you dating? We've been married ten years and I'll worry about 20 years when I get there. If I took your view, I wouldn't bother getting married in the first place and live out my life single. There wouldn't be any point.

I don't know of many. My own is great, and very few of my relatives, a few neighbors over a lifetime, and a few friends (a small percentage) have - or had - really good relationships, IMO. Many have ongoing troubled or dysfunctional relationships that do not seem happy, and many have divorced or broken up, with very, very few ever finding a good relationship when trying again.
