LaVerne and Robert Werner were both born in Meyersdale, she in 1920 and he in 1921, and, except for their many travels, spent their lives in the borough.

On Tuesday, after 65 years of marriage, the couple died just 12 hours apart at Siemonís Lakeview Manor Estates.

Deep connections than tie in a spiritual, emotional way. My grandma died....one week later my grandad died. After the death of a spouse....the living spouse is in serious danger of being 'pulled over' with them. Its a mystery....marriage...especially long lasting ones.....they bind the couple together.

I think this is more common that most people think. It's unusual to happen within hours but a few weeks or months is not. I lost a friend whose husband died 6weeks to the day before she did. Another friends parent's died 3 weeks apart with the wife dying before the husband. Both of those couples had long and happy marriages.

I've always hoped the wife would go first. That way I benefit for a few years. Probably why I married someone 11 years older than me!

I think that's awsome! After being with someone that long I would want to go soon after that myself.

I think about that sometimes-- women tend to live longer than men, and many of my older female family members are already alone. I can't imagine being with someone for 65 years and then having to face the rest of my days alone.
