I don't ever feel like I'm being used or anything.
Gotta watch the "tipping point," where it starts getting TOO uneven. It doesn't happen often, but I've seen it happen or have heard about it from other friends.

I don't have any friends like that but some of my friends do! My best friend has a friend who is always broke and asks for money - on top of never picking up a bill or pitching in!
I do have a couple friends that just don't have that much money - so I enjoy treating them. I really don't let them treat me - but they also never take advantage of me and are constantly doing other nice things for me.
When I go out with male friends they almost always pay for drinks...etc.
It's either common practice among people my age or people I associate with. I've never asked them to pay for me, the bill is usually settled before it even gets to the table.
One of my guy friends and I get together about once a month or so to catch up and we take turns paying. Another is about 50/50 on paying for ourselves or treating each other. A casual friend came to a party I hosted over the weekend and brought me flowers. I've taken one of my male friends to the movies a couple of times w/my Groupons good for two people. He comes to the volunteer project I lead when he's free and especially if I'm short volunteers.
I never take it to mean anything more than I associate with good people.
Why? Does it make me a chump when I pay for my male friends drinks/coffee/meals too? They're friends, which means they have more than monetary value to me, regardless of gender.
