well i know that my roommate does, as for me, I am not that picky, however I have a degree in history and i refuse to date someone that is an engineer or in the medical field. They seem to have pretty boring and bland personalities. As for the OP, I think you are demanding too much.

Quite true. Given the state of the economy,
I see no sense in turning our noses up at someone else's job and judging them for it.

This guy definitely doesn't have a degree or anything going on that would've caused me to be attracted to him, but you can't blame a man for trying.

I would if I were single. I think that it would be difficult to date a person who was much less or much more educated than me. I'm not saying that not having a four-year degree makes a person stupid or that having an MD or PHD makes them a genius, but I do think that having a similar educational background as your partner makes it easier to find common ground.

A person's profession is less important. But as someone in a somewhat creative, people-oriented profession (journalism) I've always found it easier to relate to people in creative fields than people in more technical fields such as engineering.

I blame him. Perhaps he should aim higher in future

Yes and no...

I think ambition and the desire to succeed are very important, but that doesn't always translate into a highly paying career or college degree(s). I have a bit of a crush on a guy who never went to college formally, but instead got involved in paramedics and emergency medicine as well as law enforcement. He's a pretty smart guy and pretty fun to be around regardless of formal education.

In the end, that's what really matters and if you're going to turn someone down because they don't have a certain piece of paper then you're an idiot.

"Employed" is the new "promoted."

Not all engineers or in medical field are pretty boring. I've dated an engineer who was very sociable. More like one of the reasons why we broke up. He mostly liked partying. He was always out with the guys. The same thing with the nurse I've dated who was also in a band.
