Story of Manti Te'o girlfriend and her death apparently a hoax - ESPN

Quote:
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Notre Dame says a story about Manti Te'o's girlfriend dying, which he said inspired him to play better as he helped the Fighting Irish get to the Discover BCS National Championship game, turned out to be a hoax apparently perpetrated against the linebacker.

The university issued a news release Wednesday after Deadspin.com reported it could find no record of Lennay Kekua existing.
It shows that even the famous and/or notable are capable of playing the fool when love is involved especially online.

That's so sad, especially when he received news of this fictitious person's "death" the same day he learned of his grandmother dying.

People are sick.

LOL I also just read the article and that's what I thought too. That he was catfished. Can't believe how catfishing is soooo rampant on facebook. the fuq?

Although.. the article I read hinted Manti Te'o might be behind the hoax himself. It says for publicity. oh well.

I suspect there is MUCH more to the story, and all the lies have not been uncovered.

Yeah, I am thinking more that this whole idea was scooped up from a toilet Manti used last.

I was waiting for this thread to happen!

There's more to this story. I hope he's just the victim and not a part of the scam to get him more spotlight. If that happens, the amount of red flags he will have going into the combine will drop his draft status exponentially which effects how much he will make.

potential top 10 selection falling all the way to a 3rd round pick? HUGE money loss there.

I can't imagine he was part of it - I mean, on the same day his grandmother died? He seemed really close to her and I can't imagine why he would have done it like that. He always seemed like a stand up guy in his interviews. Just... wow...

It gets worse than that for the Irish. Rape scandal/coverup anyone?

Why I won’t be cheering for old Notre Dame

Diss: a person one has never met is not a gf or bf. Don't let it happen to you.
