HELP ! I NEED SOME QUICK OPINIONS ! What do I do TODAY!
OK
Today is my 20th anniversary. My love is out of town because of work.
We knew he would not be here this weekend as he was home last weekend and expects to be home next weekend for my sons b-day.
We celebrated and had a wonderful weekend !
All was fine until his boss started talking about him coming home for a week to work. He was SUPPOSED to come home today. He has a week worth of work here and leave next Sunday (after my sons b-day).
Well low and behold, things on the job front changed. They told him last night that he needed to stay in Florida. Needless to say, he is VERY upset and mad.
We have 3 options.
His boss offered to fly him home for the weekend.
So : 1) He could fly home BUT
He has been doing a lot of traveling
He works late and has had no time to prepare for a flight
He has to return Sunday
2) I could fly down to see him BUT
I TRULY hate S.Florida and all thats involved
Remember all the "stuff" I went thru recently with my son (thread: my son packed his bags)
I am not ready for a flight (I could be if I tried)
I am not really comfortable leaving my son home alone for many reasons. I would be worried the whole time I was there.
Did I mention "I DO NOT LIKE S. FLORIDA" ?
or 3) Just let things be the way they were before the boss opened his big mouth.
I prepared myself for being apart on our anniversary. I did not let my hopes get too high when he told me he may be home this week because I am familiar with disappointment.
My love was extremely excited when he found out he would be home and now he is crushed.
I feel like I should be with him today, but part of me says no.
He is staying with his parents and they already have a full house. We would have to get a last minute hotel along with a last minute flight.
What to do....
What to do ?

I agree - go
You son will be fine and you could have neighbors or someone check on him.
You'll always regret it if you miss this one!

Does anyone know a good website I can book a hotel room... quick on Hollywood Beach (fairly inexpensive as we won't be spending much time "enjoying the room"?

Go go go! Happy days!!
Orbitz: Cheap Travel, Flights, Hotels, Vacations, Car Rentals, Cruise, Activities
www.travelocity (broken link)
www.jetblue.org
My personal favorite is >>> CheapTickets: Cheap Flights, Hotels, Vacations, Last Minute Trips, Rental Cars, Cruises, Events They book airline flights, boat trips, train rides, hotel packages, rental cars, and are AWESOME on the spot. And compared to all the above advertisements.... they are the cheapest by FAR.
go have fun totally surprise him and enjoy yourself because you're with him, not because your in SO-FLA for the weekend!

I just got off the phone with my love.
He wants to be HOME, home for the week.
We discussed both options.. his flying in/me flying out for the weekend. He is too frustrated, not really into all the last minute B.S. I understand his mood/thinking
He dislikes S.Fl. as much if not more than I do.
As bad as it may seem..... I hope something goes wrong on the job and things go back to "as planned".

I agree with what the others have said... Maybe a flight for you down to S. Florida would be good for the two of you? A change of pace?
But then again, if both of you hate S.Fl and are in bad moods, maybe the time apart would be better then time together...
In the end it's up to you. Fly down and spend your anniversary together, or stay home and celebrate next weekend.
Good luck.

Thanks !
Both of our moods had been spoiled. Throw in the traffic and last minute reservation for everything... ugh !
We celebrated last weekend and will celebrate next weekend as well !

There you go
I've had many holidays/special days that were complicated by circumstances. I just had to reschedule to keep the event and keep it 'happy'.
Good luck and wish your hubby a safe trip for me!
