I don't see anything wrong with him being upfront and telling you about the coupon. My major concern would be him not wanting to say what he does for a living.

The fact that he won't mention his occupation is red flags. Every time I have met a guy who refused to mention what he did was hiding something (usually no job or underemployed). I don't think the coupon is a big deal unless it is somewhere like a fast food chain and he tells you what you can buy.
