The "How long can a man wait..." thread got me thinking...

How do you rid yourself of the lust/sexual tension you feel for someone if you can not have sex with them? Say you have to be around them all the time, what do you do?

It seems like if you "kill" those feelings yourself in order to be around them (if that's even possible) then it would be hard to make them come back?

Is it even healthy to harbor unreleased sexual tension with someone for a prolonged period of time?
Is it healthy to ignore it?

My first instinct would be to just try to avoid them.

No sleep with somebody else until the other person comes around.

Meh. I don't like that idea.

Maybe it's just me but I can't feel lust (well, the kind you want to actually DO something about) for more than one person at a time.

I think you have to just accept that it's there but can't be acted on for whatever reason. If acting on it would cause serious problems, then yes, you need to avoid the person.

That's because you don't have a penis.

I don't see the problem. I just classify them in my mind as unavailable, treat them courteously, and look elsewhere for dates. There's almost always someone else just as interesting and attractive but also available who will reciprocate my interest, so why get hung up on one person who doesn't? You can't always avoid them, either, especially if you work with them.
