I've learned the hard way over the years not to mix friends and business.
I recently had a college buddy that wanted me to work on his development project part time, and quite honestly the work did not interest me, and I don't have the time to commit to it any way. So I declined, and this guy got seriously pissed off that I didn't want to to do it "Because we are friends". That was like 2 months ago, and I haven't heard from him since. I'm pretty sure he thought I was going to build this thing for him for really cheap "because we are friends"

Yeah I hate people like that. I am talking to my friend now and we agree that mixing friends and business is definitely not smart. Learned it the hard way lol.
I hate feeling like a douche bag. A friend of mine referred me to a job that is basically asking for a person exactly like me offering a massive salary compared to what I'm getting. I did a phone interview and it turns out that my friend's dad is the HR guy managing everything. Long story short, I decided to not go through with the rest of the interview process and I politely apologized for being an inconvenience and now my friend's dad is giving my friend crap all because of my actions.
Sure, I should have gone through the entire process I guess, but in my mind, if I know I'm not going to take the job, why would I waste their time and mine by continuing on anyway?
It sucks feeling like a burden.
Why? If you're well qualified why should you not get the job?
Heartbreak! One woman that I've become friends with and was hoping to date just found her prince charming, I think. But the man and his daughter are such a good fit with my friend and hers that I have to be happy for her. It really does sound ideal. I just hope she loves him and he loves her as much as their daughters seem to love each other. Those two girls were immediately like sisters and best friends.
Still, I waited just a little too long to ask her out... about a month!
I don't want to move to upstate NY. Last time I was there visiting family I wanted to kill myself.
Define "upstate NY".
It's been my experience that "upstate" encompasses everthing north of Long Island and NYC to those that live in that area.
Some parts of NY are very nice...I wouldn't mind moving back. Some parts are trashy and you couldn't pay me to live in those areas.
